Since Telltale Games re-invented the point and click adventure with The Walking Dead, many have praised their unique ideas and since then, they’ve become rather busy. Currently developing Tales From The Borderlands, a new Game of Thrones game, as well as continuing to release new episodes for The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead: Season 2, it’s fair to say that they have become a rather popular studio of late.
Now, as much as I loved The Walking Dead, a couple of things have frustrated me about the way Telltale make these wonderful games. I’d love to state for the sake of the article that I disliked their games, I don’t, in fact The Walking Dead made me care about it’s characters more than most games ever have, and because of this it’s one of my favourite games of last-gen, but maybe with these changes, Telltale could make a game I like even more. With a new year, comes a new beginning, and the knights have returned from their adventures to bring you another slice or two of the gaming world. So I decided to celebrate our revival by taking you back through the wondrous highs and the tragic lows, of what turned out to be possibly the most interesting console generation this incredible industry has ever pulled out of its dark, wire infested hat.
Double update: I’ve written a small piece in response to the feedback I’ve been given today, it can be found here.
Update: In response to the overwhelming response this article has received, I’ve answered as many of the criticisms as possible in a follow-up article.
Video games are becoming an increasingly legitimate form of entertainment, they have adverts for games during primetime TV and the best-selling christmas present are usually video games and consoles. As a fan of the medium I welcome this, more people interested in the medium means more money will be invested in it, which of course means more celebrity voices in games. Liam Neeson as Master Chief, make it happen. Continue reading →
Video games walk a thin line, one niggling feature can make a playable game unbearable, similarly, there are several good games out there that are just one simple change away from greatness. Games like …
Gaming is a lot like masturbating, getting really good at it only usually results in you having above average finger dexterity. That said, it’s also really fun. So I thought I’d list some of the more, shall we say, odd gaming challenges I’ve set myself over the years. So if you too have found yourself becoming bored with your games, but still think there’s life in them why not try. Continue reading →
“Cheapness” is a term that’s thrown around so much in video games culture that if you trademarked it, you’d be buried and killed by the weight of your royalties so fast and so hard your nuts would turn to diamonds. But I feel that the term is used unfairly, because it’s becoming increasingly popular to simply accuse someone of being cheap rather than admit that there are massive flaws in your own gameplay. Here are three common cheap tactics people love to complain about and why they’re total bullshit …
So, the beta for Playstation All-Stars (We need a longer name) Battle Royale has been out for playstation plus users for a little while now. The Super Smash Bros. inspired mascot brawler is set to try and shake up the genre a little by trying to give the world a casual fighter whilst giving competitive players the depth and balance they long for.
Now I’ve already written about 5 songs from videogames that could double for workout tunes. But they say that love makes the world go round, working out, not so much. So I thought I’d show the top 5 videogames songs you could probably get away with playing while wooing or horizontal hugging a member of the opposite sex.
Although the two terms rarely seem to go hand in hand, videogaming in my opinion draws a lot of parallels with starting a relationship. For example meeting a girl is just like discovering a new game, it’s always going to be that one that challenges you, that you will either enjoy for life, or spend late nights fruitlessly exercising your hands to. Don’t agree with me? At least read the list before you do that, jeez.
