Now, it’s no secret that the Wii U hasn’t been the most successful of consoles since its launch. After some rather promising sales in the launch period, the Wii U became rather stagnant and has been climbing out of its own grave ever since. Now that the PS4 and Xbox One have been released, next-gen is truly upon us, but for all of its shortcomings, here are the reasons I believe that the Wii U is still the best option for those looking to jump in to the future of gaming. We all have a nemesis in gaming, that one thing, that for whatever reason, whether it be a hatred of the character, or just an incapability to defeat them. I personally have one that haunts me, if I’m not screaming at creepers or fearlessly charging head first into a patch of tall grass, then I’m likely fending of this foul beast. That my good friends, is the chicken. Yes, you heard me, chickens. You see, I have noticed over the past week or so whilst playing several games, that I have some sort of vendetta against chickens (not the real kind, but the pixelated kind)

Now then, as great as last year was for me personally, that’s nothing compared to how good a year this was for gaming. With Nintendo announcing and releasing consoles, and Sony releasing a handheld, we were not short on hardware for sure. Then there was the question of the games, not only did we have one of the best years of games to date, they came at us consistently throughout the whole year, leaving us almost no time to sit down and appreciate one game, before another game smacked us in the face with its awesomeness and made us play it. In fact, personally, 2011 left me with a backlog of games to play that I’m still chipping away at even now. So to celebrate this amazing year of gaming, I’m going to make a top ten of my favourite games of 2011. Continue reading
